Daily Mobility Data
Overview
Replica provides nationwide, daily estimates of O-D pairs, vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and network link volume counts for private auto trips. Data is available from January 2024 onward and is refreshed weekly.
This dataset supports analysis at finer temporal resolutions than seasonally released products, enabling near real-time insights into travel behavior and network performance.
Methodology
The model first estimates daily counts by integrating our internal estimate of typical nationwide OD and link count patterns along with observed day-to-day variability in counts from other available data sources. Quality checks ensure that the variability in link volume and OD estimates is reflective of fluctuations due to major events (such as natural disasters, major accidents, holidays, scheduled gatherings, etc).
Daily counts are distributed across hourly intervals using observed data consistent with typical traffic assignment patterns on the estimation date. This approach ensures that the resulting hourly estimates accurately represent temporal variations in travel demand (both at OD and link level) throughout the day.
Special consideration is made to ensure that lack of coverage from one data source is covered through other available data sources while continuing to ensure both spatial and temporal consistency. This multi-source approach allows us to maintain reliable estimates even when certain data inputs have gaps or limitations, resulting in a more robust nationwide estimation framework.
